DESK loan evaluation exercise at Kagio. We visited Ernest a Deaf business man (tailor) based in Kagio who requested for a loan to expand his tailoring business.

Introducing Misheck and Yvonne, DESK new Sign Language facilitators in charge of our new Sign Language training in Chuka. We now have a new branch in Chuka and planning to open many more in different parts of Kenya.

DESK staff visited Chuka Deaf women Shop and Grocery business in Chuka for evaluation to get a loan for their business expansion. DESK aims to improve the lives of Deaf people through business empowerment.

Congratulations to Fredrick Mugendi of 'Mugendi Mali Stores' in Chuka. In May 2017, he received a Ksh 300,000 loan from DESK with an aim to expand his business. DESK management visited him for evaluation and we are happy that he did as promised. He added the stock and also advanced from only retailing to both retail and wholesale. His future plan is to open a supermarket and DESK has promised him an additional loan of One Million Ksh if he pays the outstanding debt well.

DESK hosted the first national Deaf women and girls conference for women and girls aged 15 years and above. Food, accommodation allowance were provided.
