About Us

Due to communication gap that exists between Deaf and hearing people in our society, we sincerely recognize there is a need to bridge this gap. Deaf Empowerment Society of Kenya established the first ever Kenyan Sign Language training program in Embu County to offer basic and advanced Kenyan Sign Language training to members of the community.

Those who are interested to acquire Kenyan Sign Language skills/knowledge can contact us at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , 0721310719 or visit us at our Office, Cylet Plaza 2011 (former Uchumi building) room No. 12 Embu.

Deaf and KSL Awareness

In our efforts to reach and empower many people with the signing skills, we have been able to have two three-day awareness activities around Embu town.

In these awareness campaigns we give information on the need for sign language since we have the Deaf community with us.

Impact

  • Increment of students interested to learn Kenyan sign language.
  • More respect to the deaf in the society.
  • Visibility of the Deaf has increased.
  • Reduction of stigma to the Deaf.
  • Increased access of information to the deaf community.
