Kevin Okinyi

KSL Interpreter / Program Assistant - Tana River Office

Kevin is a KSL Interpreter/Program Assistant at DESK’s Tana River Office. He has extensive knowledge and experience as a KSL interpreter having worked as a Kenya Sign Language Interpreter at St, Sylus Nyarogi Special School in Mirogi and at the Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project (KYEOP) at Kisii South Sub county. Additionally, Kevin has done extensive field interpretation during various field surveys in Kisii and Migori Counties.

He holds Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the Kisii University where he developed a set of skills which include Sign Language Interpretation, Communication and Interpretation skills.

At the Deaf Empowerment Society of Kenya, Kevin provides KSL interpretation services in different forums such as training, in house and external office meetings and in DESK’s community outreach and mobilisation missions. He also conducts family planning training on Deaf and Hard of Hearing Youth and Adolescents under DESK SRHR Program and performs outreach and mobilisation of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in all DESK programmatic areas.
