Mrs. Stella Kinyua

Board Chairperson

Mrs. Stella Kinyua is the Deaf Empowerment Society of Kenya’s Board Chairperson. Together with the CEO they shape and approve DESK strategies, reviews results of various programs, and sets the overall direction of the organization. She leads the DESK Board of Directors, to engage potential donors, stakeholders and strategic partners to further the organization’s goal of improving the lives and the empowerment of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Kenya.

Through her work at the organization over the last 4+years, Stella has actively supported the empowerment of Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals to transform their lives in the areas of education, health, water, sanitation and hygiene as well as in economic empowerment. Her passion is creating Deaf awareness and acceptance within their communities, and societies.

Stella works as a Senior Office Administrator in the Office of the Governor, Embu County Government where she specializes in planning and organizing, leading, controlling and organizing activities, managing staff, approving office budgets, attending official functions, helping to close deals and handling public relations. She also specializes in administrative technology and is responsible for educating the employees on how to use various systems and applications, including accounting software, mass communication procedures, and other organizational apps.

Stella holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, from Mount Kenya University, specializing in Human Resource and a Diploma in Secretarial Studies from NIBS College.

Deaf Empowerment Society of Kenya has an overarching goal of being a leading thought-leader in all matters affecting the Deaf in Kenya and all over the world as it seeks to ensure equal opportunities in all walks of life for the Deaf persons residing in Embu County and throughout Kenya.
